UPDATE: August Reading Party
Rescheduled to August 12 due to heatwave and air quality.
Update: Due to NWS warning for blistering heat (102 degrees), we’ve rescheduled the reading party to August 12.
Greetings, fellow logophiles — Welcome to August! I’m stoked for the next silent reading party at Topaz Farm. Join us for a blessed spell of uninterrupted reading under the glorious skies of Sauvie Island. Shaded by the magnificent Grandmother Tree, come and read together in community with people who are as passionate about the power of words as you. Mark your calendar:
Rescheduled to: Wednesday, August 12
As always, admission includes a drink ticket, live background strumming by the Stumptown Bookworms (that’s me, Ian, and John) — and birdsong.
We’re also excited to share that https://www.frizzlit.com/books, our sister project, has published two books, with more coming out soon, thanks to the outstanding support of readers like you. (Not to brag, but FrizzLit pioneered silent reading parties in 2009 and we’ve been nationally recognized for building an inspiring community around literary and cultural classics.)
Can’t wait to see you!

Ha! I finally finished the Odyssey, which was incredible. Then last Sunday evening the van overheated and I was stuck waiting for the tow truck for, like, 3 hours. My phone was running low on power. I rummaged around in the back seat for something to read and I stumbled across a copy of Margo's Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe. It's not my usual jam but I'm loving it! Hilarious.
Can't wait! I'm reading The Beach...a Gen X classic. How about you?
